Curriculum
Santiago & Friends Academy utilizes STARS Autism Support Curriculum, as well as Time4Learning and TeachTown.
We are adapting to the learning speed of your child. This allows your child to progress independently. This is unlike the “public school model” where the group is lock-stepped regardless of the student’s academic abilities. Our teachers create an individual educational plan that models development appropriate education and learning skills for each child.
-
- Time4Learning is a comprehensive, award-winning curriculum allow students to study confidently and excel at their own pace, making it ideal for all kinds of learners, whether they are mainstream or special needs.
- It is a comprehensive curriculum that covers the core subjects helps ensure that your child is receiving a well-rounded, complete education, this way, they’ll be right where they need to be. (see chart below of subject areas)
- The students learn through setting daily goals and are challenged by marking their achievement. This allows your child to visualize and plan daily progress, thus establishing a lifetime appreciation for daily goal setting.
- Students must master a minimum of 75% for mastering material to advance to the next level in Time4Learning. Grades are provided to assure progress in this curriculum. This program also allows for transcripts to be provided if a parent wants to return their child to the mainstream of public school and is compatible to a grade level.
Diagnostic Testing & Classroom Placement
All children enrolled will go through a complete ABA Assessment with Santiago and Friends if a child is not already a client of S&F, this will be an additional fee required upon enrollment. Additional diagnostic test is given to determine the student’s academic ability, identify any learning gaps, and effectively place the student into the curriculum.
A parent intake form will be required upon enrollment to better identify the needs of the child and review of the child’s IEP goals. Classroom placement will be identified in this matter to assure an Individual learning plan is presented that creates the yearly goals of the child. To aid with the evaluation and placement of a student, we may request a Records Release Form from their previous school to better assist with this process.
